Grady School Veteran’s Day Presentation

On Monday, Nov 9, H.A. Tuck and Greg Gutting were privileged to make a presentation about the HSW and the CAF to students and faculty at Grady School (north of Stanton) during their annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.  Bob Keating flew the T-28 with back seater Brent Collins who maintained ground communications, in a perfectly executed flyover for veterans, students, faculty and parents.

The celebration lasted most of the day and involved a lot of preparation by students, faculty and administrators.  Decorations and daily lesson plans by teachers emphasized the important role that veterans have played in our nation’s history.

The presentation went smoothly and students were well-behaved, attentive, and curious about what we had to say.  I think we can look forward to another invitation next year.

Halloween Visitors

The HSW had some unexpected visitors on Halloween morning. This visit was definitely a treat for those working at the wing this morning.

Member Ride Day Saturday, October 17

Lots of folks turned out for what is becoming an annual event this past Saturday.  Thanks to all the pilots and maintenance members who gave of their time to provide some fun for those of us who are normally bound to the earth.  One big drawing card was the catered lunch provided by the gentleman who purchased our cook trailer last year.  It was a feast that many could not finish…prime rib, lamb, sausage, beans, potato salad…yum!

Members Mike Hedrick and Robin Donnelly discuss the finer points of county government...or the oil business...or the landing characteristics of a Cessna 195...or whatever. They were just two of the many members who took advantage of the great weather to join in on Member Ride Day on Saturday.
