Toys For Tots Cancelled

Oh, the weather outside is frightful….

Unfortunately, in the interest of safety, we will have to cancel this year’s Toys For Tots/ Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day event.  An attempt to reschedule for next weekend has proved to be logistically difficult due to the number of rentals and other campus events scheduled next Saturday.  If you have a toy to donate you can either take it to the AAHM museum this week or bring them to the HSW Wing meeting on Tuesday, December 10th and we will see that they get to Toy For Tots organizers.  For those who want to brave the elements tomorrow and commemorate Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the Museum will hold its Road to Pearl Harbor museum talk tomorrow if there is any interest.  (Please call ahead to the Museum to determine if they will be open.)  Thank you to everyone who helped to organize this event, maybe mother nature will be more kind next year.

December Meeting Postponed

Due to possible severe weather on Thursday afternoon/evening, and concern for the safety of our members, the HSW Wing meeting scheduled for Dec 5 will be postponed.  The staff will determine a new date and members will be notified.  An email Blast will be sent out to members.  Please advise anyone not on the Blast list of this decision.

As of this writing (10pm, Wed) the Toys for Tots, Chili Cook-off, and related events scheduled for Saturday, Dec 7, will take place with possible modifications on outdoor activities.

If you have any questions, please contact me at: ggutting@earthlink.net

Toys For Tots Update

Just wanted to pass along a quick update about the TFT event scheduled this Saturday.  I’m sure everyone is aware of the unfavorable weather forecast this weekend, but we will do our best to conduct the best event we can under the conditions.  The Comm Center will house the majority of the events like the Chili Cook-off, Cantina, toy drive, small space R/C airplane demos, and hopefully an appearance from Santa Claus.  The Museum will also be open to the public for a toy donation or discounted admission of $5.00.  They will be conducting a museum talk on the Road to Pearl Harbor at 1:00pm.  As far as the events planned for outdoors, that will be an hourly decision based on the conditions.  We will need help Saturday morning (~7:45) getting Comm Center ready for the event, as there will be a rental on Friday night, so we can not preposition on Friday.  If you are available, please bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate and help brighten a child’s holiday.  Please come out to show support for the High Sky Wing and American Airpower Heritage Museum as we begin the transition to a new, exciting future.
Ps.
More details will be available at the HSW Wing meeting scheduled this Thursday, December 5th, so please plan on attending.

DSC_8077

Day 2 was cancelled due to rain, but the explosives were already set.  So, what do you do?  BLOW THEM!

Day 1 was a big success.  Congratulations to all who helped make 2013 a great AIRSHO!
