HSW Prepares for Veteran’s Day Presentation at Grady School

On Friday, Nov 10th, H.A. Tuck and Greg Gutting will travel to Grady School to make a presentation at their annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony. They will set up tables in the commons area and, after the official school ceremony, will exhibit select artifacts and make presentations to various classes during the school day.  Operations Officer Steve Clinton is planning for a flyover by one or more wing aircraft.

This is the third year that the HSW has participated in Grady’s ceremony and we hope to continue the tradition well into the future as a part of our mission to educate.

How many wing members does it take to move a tank?

IMG_0419Steve Clinton (l to r), Michael Clinton, Mark Haskin and John Echols, along with many others, solved the puzzle of how to move that 11 ton behemoth from in front of the Commemorative Center. This was done in preparation for a reworking of the parking lot into a taxiway for the old CAF Museum building. Work by the city should have already started by the time you read this.

A Farewell to Bob and Carolyn Keating

Last night, before a packed house in the Gunfighter Pub, the High Sky Wing said farewell to LTC and Mrs Bob Keating (USAF ret).  The Keatings are heading back home to Ohio after a long stay in the Permian Basin.  Bob, who flew F-100’s in Vietnam, has been a major factor in the success of the wing.  Without his leadership, experience and training, it is doubtful that we would have progressed so far in so short a time.  A special thanks goes out to his wonderful bride, Carolyn, for putting up with him all these years, and for letting him give his all for the benefit of the High Sky Wing.

Bob, thank you for your service to us and to your country.  You will be missed.
