Hangar 25 Visit

On Friday, May 18th, Bill Coombes, Paul Cooper and I, visited the Hangar 25 Museum in Big Spring to do some archival research about “our” AT-11.  Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find any documentation relevant to her, but we did get some information about items and suppliers for our up-and-coming PX.

Carver Center 2nd Graders visit the Midland Army Air Field Museum

The museum was fortunate to have 108 second graders, teachers and parents visit today during their spring field trip.  After an introduction to the museum, the students were broken down into six groups and escorted by docents around the museum. The tour pattern, devised by H.A. Tuck for previous group tours, was once again the key to an enjoyable visit.  The kids were bright, well-behaved and inquisitive, and we would welcome them back anytime.

After the tour they enjoyed a picnic lunch in the outdoor chapel and then back on the bus for their next stop.

Many thanks to the HSW members who helped out today: Steve Bolin, Tresa Bolin, Ralph Gillette, Donnie Haeffner, Lyle Thornton, H.A. Tuck, and Randy Wilson. It doesn’t get done without you!

May 5th Museum Attendance sets new one day record

The Midland Army Air Field Museum experienced it’s best one day attendance without a special event, on Saturday.  176 visitors graced our doors.  While we were expecting a group of 24 middle school students and their teachers and chaperones from Lubbock, we were not expecting a large group of folks from the active Chinese community in Midland.    Many thanks go to H.A. Tuck and Randy Wilson for their professional handling of these large numbers of visitors.  And while they were not able to give individual tours of the museum as we usually do, H.A. and Randy went “above and beyond” with their group presentations, in addition to providing good customer service to the individual members of the public that visited on Saturday.
